Hello, I’m Kelly Moon, and I have been teaching for over 15 years. I hold a Masters Degree in Special Education (infant to adult) and a Maryland Advanced Professional Certificate. I’m trained in Orton-Gillingham Comprehensive Plus District (30 hours), Virtual Phonological Awareness (12.5 hours), Eureka Math,  and iReady Math.  This means I specialize in helping diverse learners who struggle with reading and math by using proven step by step methods.

As a mom to a young adult with autism who is nonverbal, I understand firsthand how important patience, personalized support, and advocacy are. This personal experience inspires how I work with families and students to build confidence and unlock each child’s potential.

Whether your child needs help catching up or wants to build stronger skills, I’m here to provide structured, caring support designed just for them. Together, we’ll work toward meaningful progress- because every learner grows in their own time.

"I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Krystal for 2 years, and I can confidently say she is an incredibly dedicated and passionate educator. She has a natural ability to connect with children and make learning both engaging and enjoyable.

What stands out most about her is her patience and creativity. She takes the time to understand each child’s unique learning style and adapts her teaching methods to help them succeed. I’ve seen firsthand how she encourages confidence in students and helps them overcome challenges in their studies.
Any parent looking for a trustworthy, knowledgeable, and caring tutor would be lucky to have their child work with her. I highly recommend her tutoring services to anyone who wants to see real improvement and a positive learning experience for their child."

"Kelly with Unlock the Yet is uniquely qualified for her role. As a parent to a young neurodiverse adult herself, she has navigated the sometimes challenging and even maddening school system to provide the best education and support possible. As an educator herself, she has worked within the school system to provide that education and support to other students. In her role as a family consultant for the autism waiver program, where I and my child have been fortunate to be a recipient of her care and advocacy, she is a fierce believer in young people, a fantastic listener, and a collaborative partner to parents. She brings to her role a level of compassion and non-judgement that is so necessary for those of us parents who have been in the trenches, and for our children who have struggled to fit and be truly supported in school and community. Because she has walked both sides of this experience, and because of her incredible compassion, intelligence, problem-solving mindset, and creativity, I believe you will find an incredible support for your student, whether they are still in school or they are just starting out as a young adult."

She went above and beyond by providing supplemental materials and became a trusted friend, guiding us through the complicated world of special education. "
